SHELTER SLUMBER PAWTY BACKGROUND

In 2017, Gateway Pet Guardians (GPG) hosted the first ever Shelter Slumber Pawty. In an effort to raise awareness and money for shelter animals, GPG asked staff and volunteers to spend 24 hours in kennels living side-by-side with shelter dogs. By the time the 24-hour Pawty was over, the team had raised over $30,000!

In 2018, partner organization Belleville Area Humane Society joined the Pawty and the two shelters raised over $50,000. The Pawty exploded in 2019 when 15 organizations combined to raise nearly $300,000!

This year, 17 regional animal welfare organizations are taking the challenge. From March 5 to March 6, these organizations will spend 24-hours hosting slumber pawties at shelters and foster homes throughout the St. Louis Area to raise much-needed funds for our community's animals.
