A New Date - July 24th
Hi all,
We've decided to delay the sleepout to Friday, July 24th!! You are our core supporters so the last thing we want to do is disappoint you. At the same time, with the heightened demands of COVID-19 on our operations and the much needed attention being drawn to Black Lives Matter protests, we felt we needed more time to recruit so we can hit our $50,000 goal.
I want to thank you so much for your support so far (we've raised just shy of $10,000 to date, which is excellent for this time in the process).
This is the most important fundraiser we do for Friend's Place. $50,000 is more than a 1/4 of the budget, making it possible to provide more than 14,000 shelter nights every year for more than 225 people.
Thanks so much for being part of the Friends Place family!!
Sleep out so others don't have to!!
From Friday, July 24th, 8pm to Saturday, July 25th, 8am, dedicated adults, teens, and children will be sleeping out to raise critical funds and awareness for people experiencing homelessness in Monroe County, Indiana.
Due to COVID-19 this year’s sleepout will look a little different and will take place virtually. We will still be sleeping out to raise critical funds and awareness for people experiencing homelessness in Monroe County, Indiana, but we’ll be in our backyards, on our living room floor, etc. practicing social distancing while doing it.
All ages are welcome. Adults and teen participants are asked to register, choose a personal fundraising goal, and ask friends and family to sponsor them as they sleep out.
The net proceeds from the event will support Shalom's overnight shelter, Friend's Place, the only nonreligious, year-round emergency shelter for homeless adults in the region. Friend's Place is a sober shelter for Monroe County residents, providing hope and support as people find their way back home. Combined with Shalom's housing and employment assistance, Friend's Place has become one of the most successful shelters in Indiana.
