She Nailed It! Is an all-women nail hammering competition founded by Habitat for Humanity of the Lehigh Valley in 2012 as a way to raise funds and empower women. This one-of-a-kind event brings together teams of women from all industries and walks of life to learn and improve their nail-hammering skills, raise vital funds for Habitat’s Homeownership Program, and address the affordable housing crisis faced by women and single mothers both locally and globally.
Interested individuals can support She Nailed It in the following ways:
1. Create a Team
Each team must be comprised of four women who will attend the event on May 4th and compete relay-style against the clock to hammer one nail per woman, per round into a 2x6 board suspended across sawhorses.
Each team will hammer twice in the first round. The fastest of the two times will be used to determine who advances to consecutive rounds.
Teams are responsible for raising a minimum of $1,500 by event day in order to compete. This can come from a company sponsorship, independent fundraisers, and/or individual donations.
2. Support a Team
Make a donation towards any registered team. This will help them reach their fundraising goals, and will directly benefit Habitat Lehigh Valley and our homeownership initiative.
3. Sponsor the Event
A variety of sponsorships are available whether your company would like to fund a participating team or not. Contact jshappell@habitatlv.org for more information.
4. Attend the Event
Anyone can buy a ticket and attend! Children under 12 are free with a paying adult.
She Nailed It! event touches hundreds of lives in the Lehigh Valley. It benefits local businesses by offering a team building experience for staff; it benefits participating women by teaching them vital skills and empowering them to compete in a physical event regardless of their age or experience level; it benefits the organization as it springs in spectators to learn about the mission of Habitat; and most importantly, it benefits women going through Habitat’s homeownership program to achieve safe and stable housing and strong, healthy futures for their families.
