Olivia's Heart Fund, a Rhode Island based, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization funding congenital heart defect research, is fighting back and we need your help! Olivia's Heart Fund will hold its second annual “Strike Out CHD” bowling event on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Kingston Bowl in North Kingstown, RI. We hope that you will consider joining us on this fun day to fight for this important cause. Prizes, such as Patriots tickets, for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place pledge getters!
Congenital heart defects (CHD) are the #1 birth defect in the world. Approximately one in every 100 babies born in the US will be born with a CHD. CHD is a leading cause of infant and stillborn death. However, research is critically under-funded in relation to the prevalence of CHD. Surgeons and medical research scientists are continuously striving to make advancements to allow these children to live. The mission of Olivia's Heart Fund is to enable doctors and scientists to conduct this vital research through grants. In fact, we are currently in the process of finalizing our first grant award of $15,000 for 2014. We need your help to continue funding research.
