In 2013, there was a difference of 33% in reaching reading goals between students who qualified for free or reduced-price lunch and those who did not, measured by performance on the Connecticut Mastery Tests for grades three through eight.
The mission of Horizons at Brunswick is to help Federal Free/Reduced-Price lunch eligible Greenwich public school students improve their educational outcomes by providing academic and swimming instruction, enrichment opportunities, mentoring and educational guidance in a nurturing community of dedicated professional and volunteers.
Simply put by Headmaster Tom Philip, “Good for the sake of good” is why Brunswick has embarked on providing summer enrichment opportunities for low-income students, to increase their chances for success.
