We are TEAM ALMA!
Biking across Iowa with RAGBRAI-2017 raising funds to heal and transform violence with each one of the 4,025 miles we pedal!
We are 9 bikers & two logistic heroes (transporting our gear!) Six of us are over 50 (a couple well over 50). Five of us are veterans of this crazy ride. Three of us are graduates of Alma Center programs--who all combined spent more than 35 years behind prison bars—one of whom has never before slept outside in a tent!
ALL of us are UNITED on the mission of biking for peaceful change!

Why do we ride?
We bike to spread the message of the transformative power of healing in order to reclaim and restore people to their true humanity.
We know it is hurt people who hurt people. The Alma Center works locally and nationally to support men who have a history of violence to engage in their own journey of transformation. And, we understand that we cannot punish, buy, medicate, employ or educate our way out of this truth. The way to transform hurt and break the cycle of violence is to heal and embrace peace.
TEAM ALMA is getting ready –we’re growing some muscles in our legs, introducing our behinds to our bike seats, and gathering up waterproof gear! This year’s route is known for fierce headwinds & heat, so we’re also getting our heads wrapped around those challenges.
Please support us! A pledge of 1 cent per mile is a donation of $40.25. At 12 and 1/2 cents a mile, it’s about $500. We are grateful for every cent you can contribute!
