Hunger is not a Thanksgiving issue: it is an issue 365 days a year!

The Inner City Development’s Emergency Food Pantry program serves thousands of meals per year to families who are in crisis. These families are located in the neighborhoods of the economically poorest precincts of Bexar County.

Thanksgiving 365 is an annual fundraising effort that funds the Emergency Food Pantry project for an entire year. It serves about 85 families in crisis each month who are in need of food. It helps them for a few days to bridge the gap through the crisis. They are limited to two visits per year, which prevents a dependency on the program.

Last year, the program served over 35,000 meals for families in crisis, children participating in our programs, and sack lunches for the homeless. We are still projected to serve over 25,000 meals this year and we are estimating 36,700 meals for 2023! Since our opening in 1968, we have served over 3.2 million meals to date! The number of homeless people coming to the center for the sack lunch program has more than doubled since last year. Your donation will help continue this program!

Starting on Monday, November 6th, a group of fundraisers will fast until they each individually raise $1,000 to help us reach our goal of $35,000 by November 20th at midnight. Individuals have agreed to help raise funds by fasting until they reach their goal but if you are more comfortable donating to the General Fund instead of an individual's campaign, please feel free to do so here. Your contribution will help us reach our goal quickly!

Monies raised exceeding our $35,000 goal will be used to expand our summer youth recreation and nutrition programs provided by the Inner City Development Program.

Every dollar counts! Your donation will be greatly appreciated!
