About UVP

Uganda Village Project (UVP) is a grassroots non-profit founded in 2003 that facilitates community health and well-being in rural Uganda through improved access, education, and prevention. We implement programs that directly support the health and well-being of the villages and communities we serve in eastern Uganda.

UVP's program areas include Reproductive Health, Obstetric Fistula, and Water, Sanitation & Hygiene. By partnering with local governments and organizations, village leaders, and local community health workers called VHTs, we're able to reach those who otherwise could not access health education and care.

Our Impact

UVP has supported community efforts to improve health in over 50 villages, and in collaboration with our partner communities, we have achieved tangible and vital health improvements. We have provided:

  • Supported 16,342 youths with reproductive health education, family planning, and menstrual support
  • Built 1,255 latrines, 9,244 Tippy Taps, and 86 wells
  • Reached 10,355 people with WASH education
  • Provided 1,123 obstetric fistula repair surgeries
