Singing with the WIZARD Stars

For 25 years, CTG's annual production of The Wizard of Oz at the historic Carolina Theatre has kicked off the holiday season.
Over the course of 25 years, thousands of cast members (ages 4 to 84)...hundreds of crew members and other volunteers...and hundreds of thousands of audience members have gone through the twister and "over the rainbow," "followed the Yellow Brick Road," experienced the joys and horrors of Oz, and, finally, realized "there's no place like home."
For 25 years, CTG's Wizard of Oz has brought smiles, laughter, and unforgettable characters and songs to our diverse community. We've witnessed the nastiness of Miss Gulch and the Wicked Witch as well as the never-ending love and optimism of Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion. We've cheered as Glinda and the Munchkins welcome Dorothy and Toto to the colorful world over the rainbow. We've watched the Ozians shrink in fear from the Witch, the Jitterbugs dance with abandon in the Haunted Forest, and the Winkies turn away from evil and proclaim Dorothy their queen. And we've waited and worried with Auntie Em and Uncle Henry.
Most of all, for 25 years, we've watched cast members—from the youngest children to grandparents—come together to tell this beautiful story with brains, heart, and courage. CTG's production of Wizard is never the same—not from day to day or year to year—but it's always memorable and moving.
For this milestone anniversary year, we've decided to let others in on the fun of bringing Wizard to life! We've asked local leaders—from across our community—to take on the lead Wizard roles and perform an abridged, "concert" version of the production. This special, one-night-only fundraiser is a chance for these Wizard Stars to share their appreciation for everything CTG has given to our community through this beautiful, memorable, annual production.
