Our biggest fundraiser of the year, our Halloween Party, was unfortunately snowed out this year, and we desperately need to replenish our funds in order to continue to make crucial repairs and maintenance at the playground. We’re hoping to replenish the sandbox with new sand this Spring, add more picnic tables and benches, add another Big Belly solar-powered garbage compactor, and continue to pay for maintenance throughout the park that the Department of Parks and Recreation will not fund.

If we raise just $10,000 we’ll be able to fund many of the initiatives that will make the park even better for all of our kids. So, whether it’s a one-time gift or a $8-9 donation a month, please join our campaign today!

Founded in 2000, the goal of the Friends of Forest Hills Playground is to support the DC Department of Parks and Recreation in maintaining and improving this much loved space. We raise money to cover the annual cost of replenishing the sand, as well as for any repairs.

In addition, we have successfully complete several new projects, such as coordinating efforts to install a working water fountain at the park and installing a new Big Belly solar trash compactor/recylcing can which can hold much more trash than the traditional cans as well as prevent rodents and other animals from getting into the trash.
