Thoth Charities Inc.

Thoth Charities mission is to serve the children, the sick, the shut-in and the homeless in the greater metropolitan New Orleans area. Thoth Charities was established in 2014. Thoth Charities is a separate 501c3 non-profit Corporation from the main organization. Since being established, Thoth Charities has made charitable donations in excess of one million dollars. All donations to Thoth Charities are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

In addition to hosting a charity golf tournament and fishing rodeo, Thoth Charities takes most pride in the Thoth Charity Walk. Thoth is affectionately know as "Krewe of the shut-ins" because of it's unique parade route the passes in front of institutions where residents were not otherwise able to view a Mardi Gras parade. Two Wednesday's before Thoth's street procession, about 100 Thoth members join Thoth Charities for the annual Thoth Charity Walk. Appearing in full costume, these men travel to six institutions - Children's Hospital, Uptown Shepherds Center, Poor Claire Nuns, Lighthouse For The Blind, Poydras Home For The Elderly, and The Covenant Nursing Home-where they mingle with residents and hand out throws. In addition to handing out throws, a monetary donation is made to each institution. After visiting these institutions, Thoth Charities assist with the Krewe of Angels Ball Masque at the Hainkel Center. Joining in this celebration is the Thoth Captain, Thoth Officers and the reigning King and Queen of Thoth. A monetary donation is also made to the Hainkel Center at the end of the Ball Masque.

Testimonials

In 2021 Thoth Charities was proud to serve as an advocate for Children's Hospital in acquiring a $250,000 donation. This donation was used for construction of an emergency room in their new Behavorial Health Center. Thoth Charities works very closely with Children's Hospital and will be visiting them on February 14th as part of our uptown walking parade that visits Children's and 6 nursing homes. During this time the men of Thoth will bring Mardi Gras merriment to the children and elderly along with monetary donations.
