211 Big Bend - Endowment Fund

2-1-1 Big Bend helped more than 46,000 people through our hotline programs in the past year.  Many of these callers wanted crisis support and counseling, while others were even more desperate and contemplating suicide.  For example, Lifeline, receives about 100 calls a month and about half of those calls are related to suicide.  Our goal is to listen, assess risk and help our callers make rational decisions.  By doing so, we save hundreds of lives each year.

 

Organizatonal Structure: The agency started in 1976; a volunteer Board of Directors provides leadership and accountability; agency funding is provided by the United Way of the Big Bend, Leon County, the City of Tallahassee, and private contributions; contracts with the State of Florida and other agencies provide funding to operate specialized services.
