2 Bu Youth Ranch

 

Annie came bounding up the drive with a big smile on her face. “Hi!”  She stands in one place rocking back and forth from toe to heel waiting for us to greet her and say “Go get your Horse!”

This is not how Annie came to 2BU. When this young teen came, she would drag her feet up the road and stand behind her mother, hiding under a baseball cap and looking at the ground.  So unsure of herself and timid, choosing the horse for her to start with was easy.  Joe is a real gentleman that loves girls of all ages, he is the only one patient and loving enough to give Annie the confidence that she needs. Of course Annie fell in love with him when he nuzzled her hand and neck as she tied him to the rail. She learned to look up and forward leading him, since Joe wanted to know where she wanted him to go.  Her confidence grew as she started riding him and as he took care of her, she learned to take care of him.  Conversation was difficult at first but has turned into questions, answers, and a lot of giggling. Our young teen has progressed to become a confident rider, willing to take instruction so that she can continue to learn and progress to a more challenging horse.  Annie is also eager to meet and help other youth that come to the Ranch. Her laughter and joy is heard across the arenas as she interacts with others.
