We are regularly asked, "Is sex trafficking really happening in Tucson?" and we tell about the countless young women and girls we've met and worked with -- girls like Amanda. Amanda was just 16 when she was approached by a much older adult man on the bus. Having already been raped and sexually violated at a younger age, Amanda was vulnerable and so on that day, she got off the bus with him. He began selling her shortly after to 8 men daily for drugs and cash. When we met Amanda, she felt there was no real hope for her. Today, due to the incredible work of her mother, her own incredible strength and courage, and the great grace and love of Jesus, Amanda is thriving in a recovery program. It is our goal to see that Amanda and all other girls like her in Tucson aresold no more.
The vision for Sold No More began more than twenty six years ago when our Founder and Director, Jerry Peyton, experienced the devastation of sex trafficking in his own family. In order to address the growing problem of trafficking in our community, Sold No More was launched three years ago and originally called Streetlight Tucson. Working with local churches, like-minded organizations and individuals, our mission is to end sex trafficking in Tucson and provide a hopeful solution to this problem through a three-fold strategy: prevention/awareness, enforcement/protection and protection/restoration.
