A G Gaston Boys and Girls Club Inc

The A.G. Gaston Boys & Girls Club (AGGBGC) has existed as a beacon of hope for Birmingham, Alabama’s youth (ages 6-18) by providing a safe, nurturing space where kids discover their potential. The mission of AGGBGC is to inspire and enable young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.  Our mission is the cohesive thread connecting everything we do.   

AGGBGC is a cornerstone of Birmingham's youth development and carries forward the legacy of our founder, Dr. Arthur George Gaston, a pioneering African American entrepreneur and businessman who built a business empire from nothing. In 1966, he founded AGGBGC to ensure that Birmingham's youth would have the mentorship, resources, and opportunity he never had. Dr. Gaston’s vision has flourished into a lifeline and catalyst for change for area youth. 

As part of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) network, A.G. Gaston Boys & Girls Club (AGGBGC)  empowers kids through tutoring, STEM, mentorship, and workforce development—ensuring they graduate, build character, and gain real-world skills. We serve over 2,100 youth annually with evidence-based programs in academic success, leadership, healthy lifestyles, and career readiness. Our Club doors stay open year-round.
