A Kinetic Change, Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded in September of 2014 in honor and memory of the vibrant Andrew Keith Carr.
The (brief and condensed) science: Total energy is comprised of both kinetic energy and potential energy. Kinetic energy is the energy of motion. You possess kinetic energy when you are in motion. Potential energy is stored energy, capable of doing work, just waiting to be converted into kinetic energy. Doing work adds energy, just like exercising gives you energy. According to the law of conservation of energy, energy cannot be created or destroyed, but it can change forms. By adding motion, you can increase your kinetic energy. AKC’s goal is to provide outlets for your change in energy. AKC strives to motivate you to convert your potential energy into kinetic energy with movement through physical activity.
Andrew Keith Carr was a jovial, fun-loving 21 year old from Greencastle, Indiana. He was preparing for his junior year at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, majoring in Supply Chain. While studying abroad for a summer term in Rome, Italy, Keith died in a tragic accident on June 11th, 2013. A memorial race, the C.A.R.R. 5k was created in his honor, with over 200 participants in its inaugural event in Greencastle, Indiana in June of 2014.
Among the things that made Keith a unique guy, he was particularly fond of camouflaged apparel, anything American themed, and colorful attire to match his colorful personality, hence the C(amo). A(merica). R(ainbow). Run.
As an avid athlete throughout his youth, Keith participated in just about every sport. His college career included running races of various distances, his first triathlon, and Marquette Quidditch. Keith was particularly fond of basketball, which is why A Kinetic Change’s first official project will be breaking ground this spring at the Big Walnut Sports Park in Greencastle, Indiana for stage one of the Andrew Keith Carr Memorial Basketball Court thanks, in part, to 2014 CARR 5k donations. But, we need your help to complete this project!
Although the minimum donation accepted here is $10, we would gladly take contributions under that amount. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange for direct mailing or Paypal.
Looking for a gift solution for that hard to buy for person on your holiday list? Make a donation in his or her name to AKC!
Also, don’t forget about company matched donations!
Lastly, remember these donations ARE tax deductible.
Keith may have left us in body, but we can keep his energy alive by directing our energies toward positive change in his memory. So, if you like PopTarts, Harry Potter, pop punk, Taylor Swift, camouflage, stars and stripes, colorful rainbows, or fitness, please show him your continued support by donating today to A Kinetic Change’s mission to increase physical activity.
