YOUR SUPPORT MAKES CHANGE HAPPEN!

WE WANT AN A+ ALABAMA! DO YOU?

The A+ Education Partnership works for great schools for every child - and a bright future for Alabama.

What do we believe?

  • All children deserve an excellent education, regardless of where they live.
  • All students can succeed in school with effective teaching and support.
  • We must make sure more money is spent on what we know improves learning, and we must invest more in our public schools.
  • Effective public education is necessary for a democratic, prosperous and civil society, and it is the responsibility of every citizen.
  • All children need support and guidance from caring adults in their families, at schools and in their communities.
  • Thriving communities ensure that their schools prepare all students for work, college and citizenship.
  • High-performing schools for every child are within our reach. We know what works, and when we act on what we know, both teachers and students excel. Principals, teachers and communities must summon the will to do what works.

We strive for A+ ... for each child, for Alabama!

A+ College Ready, an operating division of A+ Education Partnership, is currently partnering with 64 high schools in 27 school districts in Alabama to implement a comprehensive program known as the Advanced Placement Training and Incentive Program (APTIP.) The APTIP increases teacher effectiveness and student achievement through content-specific training, teacher and student support, vertical alignment of teachers, open enrollment, and incentives.

APTIP is a proven program that empowers high-need, traditionally underrepresented students to succeed in rigorous courses, thereby elevating participating schools’ expectations for their students and transforming schools’ cultures into ones of college-readiness. It does so by increasing the number and diversity of students taking and passing College Board Advanced Placement courses and exams in math, science, and English.

The results experienced after 3-years of implementation in three different cohorts of Alabama high schools provide evidence of the impact of the APTIP program. After just one year in APTIP, 43 Alabama high schools in 17 districts showed a dramatic 108% increase in passing AP MSE scores. And, the APTIP program has increased the successful participation of under-represented students in AP courses with preliminary Alabama results from NMSI showing a three-year increase in minority qualifying scores of 222%.

Alabama Best Practices Center (ABPC), a division of the A+ Education Partnership, is a place where educators can turn for assistance, inspiration and information about teaching and student achievement.
