A World Fit For Kids! (WFIT) is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization dedicated to preparing young people for fit and fulfilling lives. For more than 24 years, WFIT has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to improving outcomes in underserved communities and ensuring that all children and especially those living In low-income families are fit, healthy, and ready to learn. Since our establishment in 1993 we have provided direct service through afterschool sports, physical activity, and youth leadership programs that have
impacted the lives of more than 400,000 low-income K-12 students and their families. Our programs, which include sports such as Volleyball, Football, Basketball, Softball, and Soccer, intentionally integrate social emotional learning and youth development principles and practices with purposeful physical activity, nutrition education, academics, and select enrichment activities. The result is a triple bottom line for the youth we serve: more active and engaged students, improved academics, and work readiness/jobs. In furtherance of our
commitment to impacting the lives of as many young people as possible, we also conduct physical activity and nutrition workshops to train parents and adults who work with youth so other individuals and organizations can achieve our same breakthrough results. To date, we have trained over 10,000 teachers and afterschool staff how to incorporate physical activity, healthy behaviors, and personal empowerment into their own programs and youth services.
