ALS in the Heartland

A nonprofit organization

ALS in the Heartland provides the highest quality of support and care to individuals with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), their families, and those providing care to them. It is the goal of ALS in the Heartland to assure nobody faces ALS alone.

ALS is a devastating motor neuron disease with no known cause, treatment, or cure. After diagnosis, individuals are typically given 2-5 years to live, facing the progressive loss of abilities to walk, move, speak, swallow, and even breathe, all while cognitive function remains intact. ALS in the Heartland (ALSITH), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, serves individuals with ALS, their families, and caregivers in Nebraska and Iowa. All funds raised during Give Where You Live will directly benefit those affected in the Kearney area. At no cost, ALSITH provides life-changing services that ease burdens, create connection, and bring hope. These include:
• Education, guidance, and community resources
• Individual and group support
• Respite grant program
• Equipment loan program
• Children's funds and scholarships
• Referrals to experienced medical professionals
