South Texas Substance Abuse Recovery Services (STSARS)

To deliver services to individuals and families impacted by drug or alcohol use with privacy and safety; respecting their needs.

This year STSARS has been awarded funding to provide Outpatient Youth substance abuse treatment and education services for our Youth in the Coastal Bend and the surrounding areas.
The name of our Youth program signifies:
Anchor - teaching the youth to Secure a drug free life.
Net - for the youth to Gain a drug free education from our services.
Character - To bring out True self, in youth.
Honoring - Will hold each youth in personal High Regard.
Ownership - Empower each youth to belong without negative behaviors.
Responsibility - For youth to accept the Responsibility for their Actions in life.

The ANCHOR STSARS Youth Program promotes Individual counseling and education, which is aimed to increase protective factors, foster resiliency, decrease risk factors, and affect critical life and social skills of youth and their families.
The primary focus of substance abuse treatment programs is reducing substance abuse, however, since problem behaviors include substance abuse, violence, delinquency, teenage pregnancy, and school dropout - all of these share common risk factors, reducing common risk factors is likely to reduce multiple problem behaviors.
The ANCHOR STSARS Youth Program's Life Skills Training is one key element in increasing resiliency in youth. Positive relationships, opportunities, competences, values, and self-perceptions assist youth in succeeding in life.
