Ability First

Centers for Independent Living assist people with disabilities to reach their full potentials in the setting they have chosen. But we also know that they have to live with barriers and limited choices in their communities.

Ability First has been a major source for breaking down barriers and opening paths that allows our consumers to transform those limitations into an independent lifestyle. Nothing beats watching that transformation!

Our consumers work hard in keeping their independence; they have chosen to cut out “DIS” from their disabilities and make it Ability First! They inspire us and add their unique values to our vision to integrate, built, and strengthen abilities for all individuals with disabilities.  It truly becomes a wonderful experience for all of us.

Ability First is committed to provide services that enhance independence, but we have to be realistic; opportunities and possibilities comes with a price tag.  To assist over 700 consumers it takes creative management; as a non-profit organization we are subject to working with funding that bound us. Your donation can make a difference. It's amazing how much can be achieved with just a small amount of money from people like you. A wheelchair, a ramp, or learning a new skill can give one more person with disability her or his independence and it is possible when you donate!
