Abuelos Foundation

Hosting monthly service events, we gather volunteers to deliver food and/or needed supplies to low income elderly citizens in Miami-Dade County. In addition to the deliveries, we visit with them and bring them flowers and crafts. We have provided support throughout the pandemic and beyond by delivering over $75,000 worth of groceries, over 1,500 hot meals and other supplies. We have also had several home improvement projects for the elderly, Hurricane Preparedness Events, and disaster relief drives. Recently, we have added Grocery Dashes at Sedano’s Supermarkets where we buy all the groceries our elderly bring to the checkout counter. Along with that, we send monthly home-made birthday cards to our elderly which are personally created by their "Nietos/Neitas" (Grandchild). This includes letters from our different chapters with gift cards for food purchases. To top it all off, we have increased student volunteer support to over 350 a month by increasing chapters at local Miami- Dade schools and at colleges! In total we have provided over 7,500 community service hours to help the elderly in the Miami-Dade Community over the past several years.
