A.C.A. is a network of foster homes, an entity formed to help animals from Evansville Vanderburgh Animal Care and Control.  The animals in our foster care program have all come directly from EVACC.

We choose to pull only from EVACC because of the thousands of great animals that come through the shelter each year.  Thousands of cats and dogs (and some chickens, horses, and small furries) are relinquished to the shelter each year.  Some are given up by owners, victims of hard times, or new living circumstances.  A larger portion have come in as strays, found on the streets of Evansville, held for 7 days at the shelter for an owner to reclaim them, and then given a very short period of time in which to find an adoptive home before the kennel is needed again for the next animal that comes in.

A.C.A. does not have a shelter.  When we pull an animal from EVACC the animal is brought into a loving foster home.  The foster home treats the animal as their own, perhaps teaching a dog commands and manners, or showing a cat that living inside is her new way of life.  We love our animals, and want each of them to find a perfect "forever home."

A.C.A. does not have a payroll.  All of our volunteers are just that, non-paid persons doing something they love.  A donation to A.C.A. goes straight to the animals. Vetrinary bills, medicine, and grooming are just a few of the expenses that your donations pay for.  A.C.A. is always looking for more volunteers, as well.  You do not have to be able to foster to volunteer.  We can use people to transport (across town, and across the state), to help at adoption days, and to help us organize our never-ending paperwork!  If you're interested in volunteering please call us, or send an email!
