#HistoryMatters

Sharing stories of the past and revisiting these moments are critical ways for us to learn and develop a deeper understanding of who we are, how we live today, and the choices we will make for our future. Every week at the National Colonial Farm, interpreters bring these stories to life, creating lasting memories for visitors. Each visitor experience is as unique as the stories told.

Your year-end gift is critically important because it allows us to:

  • Expand projects that have limited funding by including more partners, scholars, and research to reach more people in interpretive programs that facilitate dialogue and raise important questions about history.
  • Provide training and professional development to interpretive professionals, enabling them to gain invaluable skills, knowledge, and tools to create an authentic visitor experience at the National Colonial Farm.
  • Outfit more interpreters with period appropriate clothing vital to the creation of deeper connections with tens of thousands of visitors.
  • Purchase essential interpretive materials and supplies for a real working farm, creating an experience that goes beyond museum walls and protected artifacts to bring a deeper understanding of our historical roots.

Your support will make all of the difference in the impact of interpretive programs at the National Colonial Farm.

About Accokeek Foundation

The Accokeek Foundation was founded in 1957 as one of the first land trusts, blazing new trails in preservation through a public/private partnership that led to the creation of Piscataway Park, a nearly 5,000-acre national park on the Maryland shore of the Potomac River. The Accokeek Foundation cares for and stewards two hundred acres of the park, providing educational programs and visitor services to more than 25,000 visitors at the park annually.
