Why We Exist

From nomadic herders in Mongolia to Adivasi tea workers in India, millions of people in communities around the world are threatened by internationally financed projects like mines and coal plants every year. Indigenous People are forced from their land, critical natural resources are destroyed, and local women and girls experience sexual abuse. These are the communities we serve.

Our Mission & Impact

Accountability Counsel amplifies the voices of communities around the world to protect their human rights and environment. As advocates for people harmed by internationally financed projects, we employ community-driven and policy level strategies to access justice.

In just 10 years, our team has directly impacted the lives of communities facing human rights and environmental abuses and their advocates in 50 countries, improved policy at every major development finance institution, and led a global movement for accountability in international finance.
