Our Story: A special educator by trade and an avid thespian, our founder Cindy Schneider experimented with offering theater workshops for youth on the autism spectrum and found them to be natural actors.

The response to initial theater workshops in the year 2000 was so positive that over the next several years she began to build a theater program specifically for children on the autism spectrum. She operated out of YMCAs, county recreation programs, or wherever she could find a space.

In the summer of 2006, Cindy incorporated ACTING ANTICS, Inc. and then applied for non-profit status, which was granted. In January 2007, Cindy rented a renovated barn and began to offer an entire array of levels and ages of classes that began in late January of 2007. In 2011 ACTING ANTICS relocated to it's most recent location. Since then, ACTING ANTICS has run a full complement of programs in the spring, summer, and fall, and a full array of camps during the summer.

And today, heading towards 2017, we are gearing up to find a new permanent location where we can continue to grow and offer even more innovative programs.

In addition to the onsite programming, during the past several summers many local school districts have used our services and/or offered our program as part of Extended School Year programs. Local and regional excitement about the program continues to grow. Some schools have also brought ACTING ANTICS into their school programs during the year to teach social skills through drama, and to train the special educators in the building. Our instructional staff consists of certified teaching and/or occupational therapy professionals and assistants who have been specifically trained in our techniques.
