Active Heroes

Active Heroes is an organization committed to helping our veterans, service members, and their families.  We create opportunities for the military community to connect with others who have had related experiences. For those that have chosen a military life, there are often unique challenges, and those challenges sometimes lead to crisis, leaving some feeling isolated and alone. Making connections helps to reduce stress, provide camaraderie, and give those who have served and their families the help they need to build the better future they deserve.

We recognize that our heroes deserve support beyond their military service, we proudly created The Retreat at Active Heroes nestled in Shepherdsville, Kentucky.  The Retreat at Active Heroes is home to our:

• Welcome Center
• 2 Cabins (exclusively rented to veterans and military families
• 19-hole disc golf course
• hiking trails
• archery range
• picnic area and fire pits

And our Pavilion is perfect for large events and gatherings with both indoor and outdoor spaces where groups can come together. These spaces are not only available to the public but also available for private reservations. Lastly, we offer two rustic cabins exclusively for active-duty military personnel, veterans, and their families, to take the time they need to rest, relax, and reconnect.

Who We Are

Active Heroes' mission is to support U.S. military service members, veterans and their families through physical, educational and emotional programs providing coping skills in an effort to eliminate suicide. We have nationwide events and peer support to support military families, a military family community center in Louisville and a 147 acre retreat center that is free for military families to stay at, located in Shepherdsville, KY.
