Advocates for Homeless & Those in Need Inc

Advocates for Homeless & Those in Need (AHTN) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that serves the vulnerable community in Lower Bucks.

AHTN has 4 missions that serve the homeless and those in need:

Code Blue:  Winter shelter in a local church from December 1 - March 31 when the temperature plummets to 26 degrees, including wind chill and when AHTN can secure 18 volunteers.  The host church provides the space, a host coordinator, dinner and breakfast.  AHTN provides cots, bedding, thermals, clothing, boots, coats, hats, hand & foot warmers, etc.   Our homeless friends are not freezing if they come into the church shelter.

Wheels to Meals:  Pre-pandemic, the AHTN drive team picked up our homeless friends and brought them to 42 different houses of worship for a nutritious meal.  Since the pandemic started in March 2020, these same houses of worship agreed to make "to go" meals and our AHTN volunteer drivers are picking up the meals and bringing them to our friends near their encampments in the woods.

Those in Need:  AHTN's Resource Consultant fields phone calls from agencies, organizations and individuals requesting emergency services, like shelter, gas assistance, car repairs, transportation to various appointments, etc.  The most requested need is emergency shelter in a local motel in Bristol for those who are experiencing a housing crisis.  This provides a safe haven for those individuals who also get meals provided by the Calvary Baptist Church Food Pantry.

Shower Mission:  AHTN provides showers for our homeless friends every Wednesday at the Rodeway Inn in Bristol from 2:00 - 5:00 pm.  The YMCA in Fairless Hills allows our homeless friends to come in to take a shower Tuesdays from 8:00 - 9:00 pm and Fridays from 6:45 - 7:45 pm.

All AHTN volunteers are trained and background checked.  These individuals have the heart and passion to serve this vulnerable community.
