Advocates of Ozaukee has a 35 year history as a provider of domestic violence and sexual assault prevention and intervention services located just North of Milwaukee, WI. Advocates is the ONLY domestic and sexual assault agency in the county.

Advocates Shelter, our 16-bed emergency crisis shelter for women and children who need a safe place to go

• Our 24-Hour Domestic Violence Hotline links callers to emergency shelter, legal assistance and referrals, support groups & counseling, food, clothing and other emergency needs
• Victim Advocates assist with medical, legal, and personal advocacy for victims & their children and serve as liaisons between clients & the criminal justice system
• Advocates at the Legal Clinic at the Justice Center provide legal advocacy, guidance & support
• Our Community Education Program begins in grade school with bullying presentations and continues throughout high school as well as working to increases awareness & understanding of family violence issues among adults
• Family Advocacy and Support Services include case management, support groups, legal assessment and referrals for individuals & families.
• Our children’s programming works with child victims to help them understand the dynamic of abuse & how to stay safe. Additionally, it works with children to teach non-violent ways of solving problems & dealing with anger.

Yes, even in Ozaukee County…the local statistics are staggering:

1. Individual children & youth supportive counseling & advocacy has increased 153% over last year
2. 3152 nights of shelter were provided in 2013 an increase over 2012 even though the shelter was closed for 5 weeks for fire repair.
3. There were 586 crisis calls placed to the Advocates in 2013
4. Between 2004 and 2013 sexual assault clients served increased 435%!
5. The number of clients with annual income under $10,000 increased 250% - yes, even in Ozaukee County & the surrounding areas
6. Clients under the age of 18 increased 87% this past year
7. Community education & outreach has increased 43%
