On an individual level, our impact is best described by the thanks received from a 16-year old victim of abuse helped by the NCC Victim Assistance Program: “You are really there for the kids.  I don’t think that anyone can understand just how much unless they’ve been there.  Unfortunately, I had that experience and fortunately you were there.  Without your support and patient guidance, I would have made many mistakes along the way and otherwise wouldn’t have been able to deal with the fear.”

Many children in Israel face violence, cruelty, exploitation, and neglect. As children are not influential and have no political or economic power, they are also unable to protect themselves. It is the responsibility of adults to protect them. The Israel National Council for the Child (NCC) takes that responsibility very seriously.

The NCC, an independent nonprofit, non-governmental organization, is the most experienced organization in Israel that works to protect the rights of over 30% of Israel’s population--its children. Our mission is to advance children’s rights and promote and protect the well-being of all children in Israel, age birth to 18, regardless of ethnicity, religious affiliation, or social-economic status

The NCC operates on complementary fronts combining activities on behalf of individual children and activities that deal with fundamental issues at a policy level, in a manner that improves the rights and well-being of thousands of children. For almost 30 years and through a variety of innovative activities, the NCC has been actively concerned with securing the rights of hundreds of thousands of children in Israel; envisioning Israel as a country where children will be safe, healthy, educated, and allowed every opportunity to grow and develop to their fullest potential.

The NCC is the only body that addresses all aspects of children’s lives – their wellbeing, welfare and rights: education, health, poverty and distress, abuse, delinquency, law, media, consumerism, welfare, working youth, Internet, safety, divorce, neglect and abandonment, parental responsibility, sex crimes, physical punishment, standing and citizenship, and more.

Our dedicated, multidisciplinary professional staff and volunteers are experienced, highly skilled and have an expertise in the special needs of children and youth.

Through our hands-on work in programs aiding individual children, we gain keen insights about policies and practices that lead to effective policy and legislative changes for positive outcomes for all, in particular the thousands of children at risk of poor educational, social, health and welfare outcomes.

The NCC is not influenced or biased by outside considerations.  The NCC does not seek governmental funding as a matter of principle in order to protect its independence as an objective body, working solely toward its mission. We depend on the concern and generosity of individuals, businesses and foundations to provide these critical services to the thousands of children who depend on our assistance and our advocacy efforts.
