In 2004, Chris Bradshaw and her family were told on a ponytrekking trip in the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho in southern Africa that there was just one library in the entire country. Too many books were clogging up US landfills, so Chris set up a system where anyone could start a library in Africa by collecting 1,000 gently used books and raising about $500 to ship them.  Fueled by grassroots energy, the all volunteer African Library Project has now started over 1900 libraries in twelve African countries.  You can start a library, too!
