Adaptive & Inclusive Recreation of Whatcom County

The AIROW Project is a nonprofit organization based out of Bellingham, Washington. AIROW stands for Adaptive & Inclusive Recreation Of Whatcom County. The AIROW Project’s mission is to create, facilitate and promote adaptive and inclusive recreation opportunities for people with disabilities in Whatcom County and surrounding areas. We acknowledge that many individuals, especially youth and adults with disabilities face significant barriers to accessing both the outdoors and recreation. As an organization, we are actively working to reduce these barriers as well as creating adaptive ways for everyone to participate. 

AIROW runs many programs year-round, including but not limited to hiking, swimming, climbing, kayaking, paddleboarding, pickleball, bowling, biking, exploring, scavenger hunts, obstacle courses, arts & crafts activities, youth & young adult camp programs and community engagement. Over the past four years, we have seen the impact that our programs have had on the disability community, our local Bellingham community and the outdoor recreation community as a whole. Our programs are both needed and essential to getting all people, especially people with disabilities, outside and discovering new activities they may grow to love.

One of AIROW’s newest programs is our summer camp program, which is an 8 week day camp program for people ages 8-30. Our summer camp program was designed to break down barriers, create judgement free zones, and foster confidence, independence and a love for recreation. Summer 2024 will be our biggest summer camp program yet, and we need your support! With GIVE BIG 2024, The AIROW Project plans to grow and expand our programs, staffing and recreation opportunities for all! With summer quickly approaching, your donation can change and improve the well-being of a child, adult or family in the Bellingham community.
