Jean Dean RIF was started 25 years ago as a way for Kiwanians and friends of Kiwanis to provide quality, age-appropriate books to at-risk young children. For many of these children, their RIF book is the FIRST book in their homes!  Kids in Head Starts, state sponsored day cares and other low income daycares get to pick three books during the year.  Volunteers then read the book just chosen to the child before he or she takes it home to be "their" book and where they can share the pleasure of reading in their own family! Putting books in homes where there are none MAKES IT POSSIBLE to have family literacy. We need your help to keep this program serving every county in Alabama. Get Caught Reading to A Child is the theme for our 25th year. An anonymous donor has agreed to match gifts of $25 or more (for a total of $1,500) in support of Jean Dean RIF through Giving Tuesday.
