The Alabama Parent Education Center believes that parents and families have the greatest impact on children's lives. Our grassroots agency organized in 2002 to provide training, information, and support to Alabama families and those who serve them. Our services support all parents, including low income, minority, parents of children with disabilities, and noncustodial parents; to ensure that their children become well-educated productive citizens. Parents, families, community agencies, and schools benefit from trainings and supports of our center thereby increasing their capacity to advocate and be involved in the educational success and social emotional development of children both at risk and those with disabilities. We provide training and services in the areas of parental involvement in education, disability advocacy, special education advocacy, parenting, educational attainment, job skills development, early literacy and numeracy, behavioral management and improvement, cooperative parenting through separation and divorce, and divorce mediation services.
