Alamo Area Partners for Animal Welfare (AAPAW) strengthens animal rescue across the greater San Antonio region by funding lifesaving care where it is needed most. Founded in 2007, AAPAW is not a shelter—we are the support system behind dozens of independent rescue organizations, Good Samaritans, and community advocates working every day to save animals’ lives.

Local rescue groups are passionate, skilled, and deeply committed—but often under-resourced. AAPAW exists to fill critical gaps, ensuring limited rescue dollars go further and more animals receive timely, compassionate care. By working behind the scenes, we help our partners stay focused on what they do best: rescuing animals and placing them into loving homes.

How We Make a Difference

AAPAW directs donor support into high-impact, prevention-focused programs that address the root causes of pet homelessness and suffering, including:

• Spay & Neuter Assistance to prevent unwanted litters and reduce overpopulation
• Heartworm Treatment Support to remove a major barrier to adoption for rescue dogs
• Good Samaritan Assistance for individuals helping sick, injured, or abandoned animals in crisis
• Community Resources & Guidance connecting pet owners and advocates with trusted support, education, and services

Rather than duplicating efforts, we strengthen a collaborative network—pooling funds, sharing knowledge, and maximizing efficiency across the rescue community.
