Amelia Park Ice Arena was originally financed by the late Westfield, MA philanthropist, Albert Ferst, in memory of his wife, Amelia.  Throughout her lifetime, "Millie's" intent was to give back to the community, especially the youth.  Mr. Ferst shared her ideals.

The Albert & Amelia Ferst Operating Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit entity, was formed in 1998, with the expressed purpose of building a facility to provide positive recreational opportunities for the youth and families of Westfield, MA & the Pioneer Valley.

Our Mission:  To provide youth and families regardless of race, color, age, national origin, gender, creed, or economic status, the opportunity of access to a quality recreational facility, in an attractive well-run enviroment. Our intent is to always keep in mind the spirit of the most generous gift, in memory of Amelia Ferst.

Our facility is 47,000 square feet with an indoor NHL sized skating rink & an outdoor dek/roller hockey rink, a pro shop, 4 locker rooms, and a skate rental area.

Our programs include ice hockey for youth and adults, dek & roller hockey for youth and adults, figure skating for youth and adults, public ice skating, skating lessons, camps & clinics, Annual Sled Hockey Tournament & host of Youth Hockey & Memorial Hockey tournaments & fundraisers.

Amelia Park Ice Arena is committed to giving back to the community by: offering blocks of ice to non-profit children related organizations for fundraising or recognition; offering meeting rooms to area non-profits to hold meetings & functions; hosting the New England Invitational Sled Hockey (NEISHT) tournament annually;and host FREE musical concerts every summer in our garden. Our rink also hosts blood drives, bone marrow registry drives, and donation drives to assist the community.

Our New England Invitational Sled Hockey Tournament (NEISHT) is a one-of-a-kind event for our area as 16 teams of physically challenged athletes from across the United States & Canada compete in sled (or sledge) hockey (junior & adult divisions) for the Amelia's Cup Championship Trophy.  The rink fundraises throughout the year, so that there are no costs to the participants or fans during the tournament.  A Cookout & Sundae Social on Friday, a BBQ on Saturday, t-shirts, medals & ice time are all picked up by the rink and generous donors.

We are embarking on an capital fundraising campaign to make our building more energy efficient.  Projects include: a low emissive ceiling, energy efficient HVAC/AC roof top systems, new roofs & insulation for the facility, upgrade dehumidification controls, and convert to LED lighting.

Help us prepare our facility for future generations to enjoy!
