For over 40 years, The Alexandria Singers’ mission has remained steadfast: to provide a unique opportunity to learn and perform American popular choral music, appealing to all ages, and to celebrate this music by presenting it locally, nationally, and abroad. 

The Singers hope to provide innovative music education and performance opportunities to members of our community - young, senior, and everyone in between! - in order to inspire people of all ages to grow and use their singing talents to enhance their lives and the lives of others.

The City of Alexandria has supported The Singers from the very beginning, and we show our thanks through City-sponsored free performances and community service.  We need your financial help to sustain and enhance our outreach to this special, deserving community, and help us adhere to the fundamental principles that support our mission: "Artistry, Education, and Service".    

 

What does that mean?

Your generous gift will specifically help The Singers with the following:

Artistry: Funding will help underwrite creative staff, instrumental, venue, and technical services expenses that are necessary to provide high musical quality and unique, appealing set design and staging. This will allow us to continue to provide first-rate performances of our genre, enhancing our attraction to membership, audiences, and the community at large.

Education: Funding will be applied to clinicians, music and learning media, marketing, venue, and instrumental expenses needed for:

---Our NEW initiative that will offer valuable participatory choral education to YOUTH through free "Youth Choral Workshops"

Service: Funding will help underwrite community performance activities and outreach to the underserved population of the City through free concerts and participation in community events, specifically in senior centers and neighborhood recreation locations like the Boys and Girls Clubs.

Founded in 1975 by 16 Alexandria residents, The Alexandria Singers are a unique group.  As the region's only adult pops chorus, our one-of-a-kind repertoire of American popular music offers the community an alternative to the sacred and classical music performed elsewhere.  The citizens of Alexandria easily identify with the Singers because we're composed of men and women of all ages and backgrounds, who, by day, make the Nation's Capital hum in varied careers.  On stage, we dazzle audiences with music the people know and grew up with.  You name it, the Singers do it - Broadway, jazz, country, patriotic and pop.  The Singers are proud to represent the City and its residents and have done so both abroad and in countless area venues, such as the Kennedy Center, Verizon Center, the White House, DAR Constitution Halls, and local shopping malls, senior centers, and community shelters. The Singers have a proud history and our future is bright!
