MISSION

Alight dance theater strives to generate and strengthen community through storytelling – interweaving a movement-based art rooted in collaboration that spans cultures and generations to entertain, illuminate, and educate.

Through the lens of innovation, we strive to create dialogue, explore expression, and communicate the heart of one another’s story.

ABOUT

ADT has been under the leadership of Matina Phillips (Artistic Director) and Eleni Grove (Associate Artistic Director) since 2016, and was founded by Angella Foster in 2010. Since its start, ADT has created impactful theatrical and community dance work in the greater DC metropolitan region, and prominently in its founding city of Greenbelt, MD. 

Phillips and Grove have the pleasure of developing and presenting versatile, professional evening-length theatrical performances, while simultaneously creating initiatives to engage communities in the work. Through partnership development and support from local organizations, educational and interactive components of ADT projects have increasingly become a staple of the process - aiming to spark creativity and engagement in all people.
