The Conference's primary purpose is to stimulate economic growth and improve the Pittsburgh region's quality of life. The focus is on creating a more competitive business climate and marketing the region for investment and job creation. The Conference has embarked on a comprehensive strategy to improve Southwestern Pennsylvania's competitiveness and promote the region to the world.

During the three year period the Conference is convening private sector leadership to propel programs and initiatives to deliver results in each of three over-arching strategies: toEnhance Opportunity,building on today's regional strengths to connect individuals and employers to opportunity; toStrengthen Communities--the people and places "left behind" despite the region's 30-year recovery -- by removing governmental and other barriers that create economic disparity; and toEnergize Tomorrow's Economyby making continued improvements to the region's business climate and quality of life, improving its global competitiveness. * To advance theEnhance Opportunity strategy the Conference -- through thePittsburgh Regional Alliance-- will target prospects for business expansion and investment and market to them globally; it will seek to identify job skill needs and communicate them to employers, educators, students and workers, it will enhance communication channels and leverage pa
