Allegheny Brass Band

A nonprofit organization

The mission of the Allegheny Brass Band, an ensemble of volunteer musicians, is to entertain and educate the public to the instrumentation and style of British-style brass bands and to encourage a greater appreciation of British and American brass band traditions. ABB does cooperate with other arts groups and organizations to promote and provide opportunities for both musicians and audience members to enhance their enjoyment of the brass band experience.

The ABB provides entertainment to those who have so gallently served our country by providing free concerts (twice per year per hospital) to the VA hospitals in Western Pennsylvania. The reception we received at our one performance in 2010 was so touching our board decided to enter into an arrangement with the hospitals to provide concerts free of any charge to the VA System or the patients.

Another of our outreach programs is to provide summer music camp entertainment for the Woodlands Foundation. These camps are for handicapped individuals and the joy on their faces as the band plays and they dance and sing is definitely contagious.

Testimonials

A relative newcomer to our group (approximately one year) experienced his first "Notes from the Heart" music camp at the Woodlands. His comment to our Business Manager while packing up after we performed was "this was by far the best venue I have ever played". This came from a man who retired from the Pittsburgh Symphony after 30 + years as a professional musician.
