In 1949, the first broadcast of The Bible Study Hour aired, introducing Dr. Barnhouse's monumental study of the Epistle to the Romans. Twenty years later, God, in His providence, brought James Boice to pick up the microphone and carry on the ministry of "making God's Word plain to God's people everywhere."

Dr. Boice had the same passion for bringing God's Word to people in new ways. From broadcasting and publishing to conferences like the historic Philadelphia Conference on Reformed Theology, Dr. Boice used his extraordinary gifts to promote the teachings of Scripture clearly reflected in the five Solas of the Reformation. And out of that passion grew the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals.
