It's starting to feel like summer at last. The sun is out. School is nearing an end. Flip flops and shorts are making their annual comeback. 

At ALSO, we know that summer's approach means something else, too, something with serious implications for our work and our community. The summer months bring a spike in violence. More families afraid to spend time together outdoors, more shots fired, more people injured, and more lives lost.

ALSO has the expertise to help combat the summer spike. To do so, we provide critical services, including those listed below. In addition, we know community connectedness reduces violence, so we are gearing up for our 22nd Annual Walk for Peace, taking place Saturday, June 3rd.

Please consider making a gift to help us continue creating safer homes and streets in Chicago and nationwide. Your gift supports the following ALSO programming:

• $1,000 sponsors one in-risk youth’s full participation in ALSO’s 10-10-10 job skills program.

• $500 trains 3 community members to intervene as bystanders in potentially unsafe situations.

• $350 sponsors one youth to participate in summer sports programming

• $250 sponsors ten hours of mentorship and conflict mediation for in-risk youth.

• $100 supports one half day of street outreach to prevent violence.

• $25 fulfills one 1 hour of case management for formerly incarcerated people to re-enter their communities
