Created by globally renowned welfare and tenant rights activist Bertha Knox-Gilkey, APCEE intervenes on a daily basis with children in crisis at Pamoja Academy. We provide year-round support with a wide range of services:

Education Support:

  • Referrals for special services

  • One-on-one support

  • Tutoring

  • Reading lessons

Extra-curricular Activities:

  • Chess club

  • We’re looking for volunteers to help with the chess team!

Family and Housing Resources:

  • Connecting families with safe houses in cases of abuse/neglect

  • Providing uniforms for children in transition

  • Helping prevent homelessness

  • Referrals to other organizations for housing support

  • Emergency utilities assistance

  • Giving holiday baskets for families in need

Health/Safety/Hygiene:

  • Providing breakfast

  • Toiletries (travel-size toiletries, deodorant, and washcloths for bathing at school)

  • Referrals for discounted reading glasses

 

Current needs include:

  • Uniforms (navy or khaki pants; white/light blue/navy polo shirts)

  • Coats and Shoes (or Payless gift cards)

  • Food or Gift cards (Shop & Save, Schnucks, etc.)

  • Book bags and School Supplies

  • Financial donations help provide a variety of resources, including supports aimed to prevent homelessness, such as emergency utility payments or loans for apartment security deposits.  

Donations can be made on Razoo, through Amazon Smile, or in person. Donations accepted at Pamoja School (3935 Enright Ave. St. Louis, MO 63108) between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm. Donations could also be mailed in.
