Why Alpha & Omega Sports?
Established in Williamsburg, Virginia in 2007, Alpha & Omega Sports was designed to utilize sports as a tool for promoting academic, athletic, social & personal growth in the lives of underserved youth. Through academic reinforcement, athletic skill building and character development, the programs of Alpha & Omega Sports foster the overall growth of everyone involved.
The Man Behind The Vision
Since 1993, Founder & CEO of Alpha & Omega Sports, Inc., Keven Jones, has contributed to the lives of others as a teacher, coach, mentor, Athletic Director, Behavior Specialist, Football Chaplain, and is currently making a difference in the lives of student athletes as one of the Sports Chaplains at the University of Tampa.
Looking back on Keven’s high school basketball career in Newport News, Virginia, he was honored as a McDonald’s All-American Nominee, MVP, All District, All Regional and All State performer and currently holds the record for Denbigh High School’s All Time Leading Scorer. Through his participation in Boo Williams’ All Star Traveling Team, Jones had the opportunity to play with several NBA All-Stars and NFL retirees. Keven accepted a Division I basketball scholarship to the University of North Carolina at Asheville and later transferred to Norfolk State University where he was the recipient of the Outstanding Athletic Academic award and the WOWI Hero award. Upon graduating with a degree in Education, Keven was invited to a prestigious free agent camp in Chicago and selected to play on an All-Star Traveling Team. Additionally, Keven played in the Pro-Am Basketball League with great NBA retirees such as Alonzo Mourning, JR Reid and Bryant Stith.
Jones’ passion for sports naturally led him to the coaching arena. Throughout his experiences as head Varsity Basketball Coach, Keven achieved great success. In his first coaching season, Jones led Walsingham Academy to their first AA State Catholic Championship. He also led Rappahannock High School to their first Northern Neck District Championship where he coached 1st round NBA pick, Cal Bowdler. Named Northern Neck Coach of the Year, Keven returned to Williamsburg where he led Lafayette High School in back-to-back Bay Rivers District Tournament Championships. Additionally, Lafayette Boy’s Varsity Basketball made their first appearance to Regional Play-Offs two years in a row. Additionally, Jones has coached numerous Division I college basketball camps which allowed him the opportunity to work with many NBA legends.
Continually seeking more, Jones was inspired to establish Alpha & Omega Sports and create programs that would meet the diverse needs faced by underserved youth in our society. He also pursued Biblical Studies at Liberty University and became Football Chaplain for University of Texas, San Antonio. Keven has had the honor of conducting chapel service for several Division I Colleges as well as NFL & NBA Teams to include: Pittsburg Steelers, Carolina Panthers and Orlando Magic. Keven currently resides in Florida with his wife and three children. He remains determined to accomplish the mission of Alpha & Omega Sports and build Champions 4LIFE.
