Altrusa Club of Lexington assesses the needs of the community and strives to meet the ever-changing landscape of Lexington, KY. Altrusa is derived from the word altruism which means to give unselfishly to the welfare of others.

Altrusa Club of Lexington founded and operates projects such as Brains & Bellies (a program for pre-schoolers at the One Parent Scholar House where we read books, make crafts, provide snacks and a book of their own for each child to take home), Mighty Moms (pampering moms of children with disabilities for a weekend), the Dictionary Project (distribution of free dictionaries to 3rd graders at low-income elementary schools) and many more!

Altrusa also provides multiple opportunities throughout the year to serve Lexington by collecting items for monthly baskets to support local charities such as the Ronald McDonald House, the Hope Center for Women and Children, Kentucky Children's Hospital, and God's Pantry. The club volunteers at International Book Project, the Hope Center for Women, Lexington Habitat for Humanity, Florence Crittenton Home, and Harrison Elementary School, just to name a few.
