Alzheimers Disease and Related Disorders Association, National Capital Area Chapter Inc

The Alzheimer's Association is the leading, global voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care and support, and the largest private, nonprofit funder of Alzheimer's research. The Alzheimer’s Association National Capital Area Chapter is part of a network of more than 70 chapters nationwide. Factors that distinguish the Chapter from the outstanding local senior day care and other direct-service providers include our broad scope and outreach to thousands of people in the community; our connection with our sister chapters throughout the country (to which we can refer local residents providing long-distance caregiving to a loved one, for example); and the support of a national office with resources and access to research on the best in Alzheimer’s care and support. We provide families with 24/7 access to consultation on how to deal with the unique challenges inherent in caregiving for someone with dementia, including crisis assistance. Furthermore, the Chapter promotes Alzheimer awareness, dispelling myths and reducing stigma that prevent affected families from seeking support and getting the help they need.
