Amandla Development, Inc.

The name Amandla comes from the Xhosa/Zulu tradition of call-and-response. A crowd member declares “Amandla!” meaning “power” and the crowd responds “Ngawethu!” adding that the power “is ours.” Amandla Development is a non-profit organization that taps into local innovation to drive change and to place the power for equitable development in the hands of the people of South Africa. Amandla identifies and engages NGOs working to improve education quality and access for South Africa’s disadvantaged youth to help them improve and expand, taking their organization to the next level. As a long-term partner, Amandla evaluates an organization’s success points and helps to correct operational deficiencies that impede long-term goals. Through customized services and training, ranging from fundraising strategies to infrastructure development, Amandla equips NGOs with the power to maximize impact and collaborate efficiently in order to increase educational equality and opportunities, ultimately leading to South Africa’s developmental growth and hope for South Africa’s young people.
