See the vision. Join the Mission.

Our vision- a life free of diabetes and all its burdens.

Our mission-  to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

We lead the fight against the deadly consequences of diabetes and fight for those affected by diabetes.

- We fund research to prevent, cure, and manage diabetes.

- We deliver services to hundreds of communities.

- We provide objective and creditable information.

- We give voice to those denied their rights because of diabetes.

A few of our programs and events include:

- American Diabetes Association Camp Midicha is a lifeline for children with diabetes to develop the critical skills needed to thrive while managing this disease. ADA Camp Midicha was established in 1955. Attending summer camp helps children develop social skills, self-respect and life-long friendships. We give kids the opportunity to meet other kids just like them while fostering independence, building self-confidence and gaining an awareness of a healthy lifestyle through education, nutrition, exercise, emotional well-being and glucose control.

-  Tour de Cure is a premier cycling experience and the only cycling event supporting all people living with diabetes. Riding in the Tour de Cure is an experience you will never forget. The event is well organized and has routes available for all ages and abilities. When you register for the Tour de Cure, you become a part of the American Diabetes Association’s largest fundraising event. Joining you will be thousands of participants from around the country who come together to directly impact the lives of people facing the daily challenges of diabetes and their loved ones.

-  The ADA's Health Equity Bill of Rights guides our work to address the social determinants of health that lead to a higher prevalence of diabetes and worse health outcomes. The pillars of our actions are built on this foundation. We believe someone's ZIP Code and background should not determine their health outcomes.

- Those who earl less than $30,000 per year are three times as likely to have diabetes than those who make over $80,000 per year.

- Approximately 20% of Americans with diabetes have adequate access to healthy foods, a rate twice as high as that of the general population.

- Walkable neighborhoods are associated with both lower diabetes incidence and prevalence.

- African American and Hispanic/Latino people are more than 50% more likely to be diagnosed with diabetes than non-Hispanic/Latino white people.

- People of color, older adults, and low-income communities living with diabetes face higher rates of diabetes complications such as kidney disease, vision loss, and amputations.
