Give at Home MN

Our goal for #GiveAtHomeMN, a virtual fundraising event taking place May 1 - 8, is to raise $5,000 so we can continue to fight heart disease and stroke. Heart disease and stroke survivors are at increased health risk during the COVID-19 pandemic. Your support is urgently needed to help protect vulnerable heart and stroke patients. From the bottom of our hearts -- thank you for contributing to our mission.

A Relentless Force for a World of Longer, Healthier Lives

As part of our global response to the growing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the American Heart Association is committing $2.5 million to research how the virus interacts with heart and brain systems. The Association will offer fast-tracked research grants for short-term projects that can produce results within 9 to 12 months to better understand the diagnosis, prevention, treatment and clinical management of COVID-19 as it relates to cardiovascular and cerebrovascular health.

The American Heart Association is also awarding more than $14 million in scientific research grants to four multidisciplinary teams to create the Strategically Focused Research Network on Health Technologies and Innovation. Research teams will work to develop breakthrough technology to improve outcomes related to heart and brain health, including special projects that address the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to research, the Association is providing job aids to healthcare workers, advocating for public health policies, working in communities with greatest need and helping patients and families.

Kenzie's Future is Why

Kenzie was born in 2015 with three different heart defects and had to have three surgeries in her first few months of life. At one point she developed painful Neonatal Lupus and had to have a feeding tube for three years. But she is a warrior. Today, she is a spunky, sassy little girl. Her family will celebrate her 5th birthday at this year's virtual Twin Cities Heart Walk on May 16 with their team 'Kisses for Kenzie'. The walk allows their family to raise awareness and celebrate Kenzie's life after so many hard months in the hospital.

Give today so the American Heart Association can continue funding lifesaving research so others, like Kenzie, can live longer, healthier lives.
