Veterans have relied on The American Legion for comfort, care, and support for nearly 100 years. As the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, The American Legion provides immediate assistance, financially and emotionally, to service personnel and their families whose lives have been directly affected by war.

Through the support of our Members and the greater Legion community, The American Legion honors our nation’s heroes through a wide range of programs for all veterans. These programs include providing comfort to wounded warriors, conducting homeless veteran outreach, and providing college scholarships to children of service members killed serving our country.

Every day, The American Legion serves brave veterans like Brendan Marrocco by providing comfort, care, and financial support when these heroes need it most.

Brendan arrived at Walter Reed Army Medical Center severely burned and having lost both of his arms and both of his legs in a roadside bombing. But he had a goal: to walk under his own power by the time his combat infantry brigade returned from Iraq.

With a fighting spirit, Brendan reached his goal, and when his platoon was set to arrive back to their base in Honolulu, The American Legion helped fly Brandon to meet greet them and celebrate his incredible accomplishment.
